Civilization vs. Savagery: This theme is one of the most used in this book. The beginning of the book starts off with Civilization. For example the conch would be blown and the boys would come for the assembles. Where at the assembles they would make rules for the boys to follow so they wouldn't be out of control. But then later in the book savagery started to appear in the boys. For example in Jack, all he really cared about is killing a pig. Just to show that he can kill one. Another example of savagery was when all of the boys including Ralph had killed Simon. Mistaking him for the beast and violently killing him. Letting his remains be swallowed by the ocean.

Loss of Innocence: Loss of Innocence was a pretty big one too. This meant that the boys had experience something that made them lose there childhood. For example for Simon in chapter 3 he had gone into the jungle to this beautiful place were he just sat down and look that the beauty. But later in the chapters he came back and he found the pigs head on a stick showing the evil humans have. Making Simon loss his innocence.
