Chapter Four
Predictions: 1) Robert will still be a little confused on why they are building a fence.
2) Pinky will have to stay/sleep with Robert.
3) Haven will want to kill the pig.
Questions: 1) Why did Robert stay the first night with Pinky?
2) Why did they use an ox to do the work and not machines?
3) How come Haven can't read?
Clarifications: I understand this chapter. I do get why they would have to separate both pigs and cows from each other because it can spoil the cows milk and pigs are also meat eaters. But I'm still confused on why Robert would want to sleep with Pinky the first day in her pen and not leave her there on her own.
Connections: 1) The first time I got a puppy it slept with me on the coach.
2) As a kid reading was really hard for me so listening to the words made me remember and then years later I was able to read normal.
Summary: Pinky is becoming more part of the family. After lunch Robert and his dad decided that there going to make Pinky's home in the families old corn cratch. But Robert then notices that its to close to the barn for the cows to be comfortable and to heavy for their ox. Solomon, to more the cratch while Solomon is moving the cratch Robert then ask his dad if he believes all of the Shaker Laws. And how he would read them when Haven can't even read. But then his dad yes that he just listen's to them. Robert then ask if he had voted and his dad said no because of his illiteracy. Haven says that killing pigs is his mission. After a while Solomon is all done. They finish the pen with wood and Robert stayed the first night with Pinky.
