Predictions: Snow will start to fall and there will be more people dying and getting really ill.
Clarifications: Even though the Jews are in bad conditions they still have to celebrate their Jewish traditions but Elie doesn't seem to believe in God anymore from all the suffering he was gone through. Then later they will have to start evacuating Buna before the Russians come.
Questions: Why did Elie's foot get swollen?
Why didn't Elie start believing God more because he was still lucky he was still alive?
Connections: I have had surgery before done to me and after I go home it really hurts to do anything and all I ever wanted to do was just lay down and sleep. Until i felt nothing.
Summary: The Jewish holiday come at the end of 1944. The Jews from Buna came together to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, praying and praising God's name. Elie couldn't really have a reason to bless God because of all the suffering he was going through he was basically forgetting that there was no God. Elie has been separated from his father to work in another building unit. Elie was scared that his father would not pass the selection and it did indeed show that he was a bit to weak to work. Then Elie had been forced to leave and never see his father again, but when Elie came back from working he had soon realized that there was another selection and that his father had passed it. Winter then comes, the prisoners get ill and it's really cold. One day Elie's leg gets swollen and he has to see a doctor. The doctor then tells him that he has to have surgery and he does. After the surgery days past and then he finally goes out he then keeps hearing rumors of Russians could be arriving. Buna starts to evacuate.
