Chapter 3: Huts on the Beach
Predictions: 1) The little boy got eaten by the snake.
2) They will all soon go mad.
Questions: 1) Why did they keep getting frustrated?
2) Why couldn’t Jack get any food?
3) How come the others were not doing anything?
Connections: 1) I have gotten sunburn on my face so bad one time from being outside in the sun too much. Worst thing ever!
Clarifications: I honestly don’t get this chapter that much. All it is really talking about is describing things. I honestly got a little lost for some reason when I was reading this chapter.
Summary: Jack went hunting for food. But didn’t end up getting any. Simon, Jack and Ralph are trying to build shelter while the rest are not doing anything. Either they are bathing, eating or playing. They need the shelter incase if it rained or if the snake-thing was real. Then they see the top of a mountain, where they can rest and get some shade. Rather than being in the sun all day long. While Ralph is thinking about making smoke so that when ships or anything else comes along they can see it and come a rescue them. Meanwhile, Jack is busy thinking about ways to trap pigs. Then they walk back to the beach. Simon had wondered off. He went in a little too far where things were much darker that only grass and few other things could grown from the little sunlight that spot was getting.
