Chapter 9: A View to a Death
Predictions: 1)They wouldn’t be able to find Simon.
2) All the boys will get to see the Lord of the Flies.
Questions: 1)Why didn’t they realize it was Simon?
2)Why didn’t they let Simon explain what had happen?
3) Why would they be so violent to someone they didn’t know?
Connections: 1)I have tried to resolve things with certain people but would never give me a chance to explain myself. But its there loss of a good friend.
2)I have danced into a storm.
Clarifications: is I understand the first part of the chapter because its showing that Sam and Eric had made a mistake and Simon is going back to the boys to clear things up about the beast. But what I don’t get is why the others would kill Simon. I understand that they couldn’t recognize him but that doesn’t mean that they should attack him for not knowing who it is.
Summary: Simon wakes up and climbs up the hill and sees the parachute between the rocks. He then realized that Sam and Eric had mistaken it for the beast. Simon then grabs the parachute and took it to the rest of the boys so they could see that the beast was not real. Meanwhile, Ralph and Piggy go to Jack’s feast. Jack offers the rest of the boys to come and join his group. But then it starts to rain and Ralph asks Jack what he thinks about doing and all Jack and his group do it dance. While all the boys are dancing they see someone coming on from the forest and they think that its the beast and it was really Simon. He tried to explain that it was him but they didn’t give him a chance and could not recognize him so they attacked him violently and kill him. The water washes Simons body into the ocean. But washes the body of the parachutes onto the beach and the boys see it and are very freaked out and run off.
