Chapter 12: Cry of the Hunters
Predictions: 1)Ralph will be all alone.
2)Jack will die.
3)The rest of the boys will die. And Ralph will be the only one that stays alive.
Questions: 1)Why didn’t Sam and Eric go off with Ralph?
2) Why did they set the island on fire when all they could have done is looked for Jack?
3) After Jack and the rest found Ralph why didn’t they attack?
4)Did the officer take them home?
Connections: 1) In Mexico on the 24th of December we light up fire works. I accidentally through one over the house and is set some acres on fire. We had to get water fast or there would have been a huge fire.
Clarifications: I somewhat understand this chapter. I do get why Ralph would want to use the stick on Jack because he has had enough with him and if he tries to attack him again he had defence. I also understand that because of the fire a ship could have been passing by and saw it, believing that someone or people could have been there.
Summary: Since Ralph is in the jungle after escaping from Jack and the others he starts to think to himself on how Simon and Piggy had died and that they have all become savages and there was no more civilization on the island. While in the Jungle Ralph comes through the part where Jack and the others boys had put the pigs head on the stick. Ralph grabs the stick to use on Jack. Ralph then goes back to where the boys were but Sam and Eric will not join him but they gave him food. They had told Ralph that Jack had sent a group to hunt him down the next morning. Ralph hides in a thicket but the boys try to get him out. Jack then sets the jungle on fire so Ralph can come out wherever he is. He does but runs off to the beach where he falls over because he is so tired. Ralph then walks up to an officer over him. The officer tells him that there came a ship because they saw this fire on the island. But at the end the office is very shocked on how these boys have no civilization. Ralph is so happy and crys because he will finally be rescued and so do the others.
