Natural Beauty: At first this island is all beautiful and nice. But later in the chapters, the boys make it horrible. From Jack putting the pig's head on a stick and Simon finding it and then hallucinating that it is speaking to him and its the Lord of the Flies. To Jack burning the island just so Ralph would come out running from his secret hiding spot.

The bullying of the weak by the strong: Bully was a big one in this book. The boys though because they were older then the rest that they could do whatever they wanted. For example when Jack would always call Piggy "Fatty" that always pushed him, this was bullying. Jack thought because he was older that he had the power to do whatever he wanted and knew that no one would do anything because there weren't any parents around that could get him in trouble.
